Caress The Wounded Sore Throat With Ginger Grass Oil

I can very well understand the condition of developing a sore throat before any grand celebration…I mean seriously it can be so painful and in a way so much irritating for not being able to enjoy the cold…lip-smacking desserts and other delicacies just because of having developed that ‘sore’ throat…

And even if one plans to simply ignore the pain and inflammation in the throat for the sake of tasting those tempting eats…then putting the thing in mouth is still fine but to let it pass through the throat…it feels like something is scraping the throat to get down and there is sudden surge of inflammation…oh! It is pathetic…

But…I wonder why do we have to worry…when we are blessed with natural herbs to tame these sudden wild minor problems…Ginger…the key to it oil…Will move on to Ginger grass oil in the second half of this article…

But before we move ahead…Understand what are the major reasons that we develop a sore throat…

Owe it to dry air….This is actually quite common….Winter…the peak time for this problem…If the air is dry…your throat can dry out a bit with your breathing and become sore….So that’s why the temperature in the house should be a little moist…target that first…

Okay another reason can be when one already has cold…Coughing by itself can make your throat feel sore….So can postnasal drip…mucus from the nose dripping down the back of the throat….Well…it does the ‘pestering wonder’…develops a sore throat…

Okay…this one might be a little unexpected for you…but trust me this is the most neglected yet potent causes of developing a sore throat….virus! Yes! I mean it…There are several viruses that attack the mucus membranes of the throat…the tonsils…or both….These viruses will often make your throat feel sore….Some of these viruses…like the adenoviruses…will also cause pus to accumulate on the tonsils just like strep does…and we need to test to see whether strep is the problem….

Streptococcus…Another major cause…Ever heard of it? Well…I won’t lie…even I hadn’t…Stumbled across the word while researching about this blog…It is basically a bacteria…Although there are other bacteria that can attack the throat…the most common bacterial cause of strep throat is Streptococcus pyogenes…or “group A strep”…As far as other bacteria are concerned…there are several different kinds of strep…which are similar overall but differ in some biochemical details…and…because of those details…in the way they infect people….S. pyogenes…or group A…is the kind that usually infects throats and causes scarlet fever…

Now I’ll inform you a bit about Ginger Grass’ extraction….Ginger Grass oil is extracted from the fragrant ginger grass plant….Ginger Grass essential oil has a strong green scent with a peppery and lemony touch….This oil is extracted from Ginger grass either through steam distillation method or water distillation method….The special aroma of this oil can be defined as grassy…sharp…woody…peppery…lemony and fatty sweet….Ginger grass essential oil blends well with

Perfect Healthy Beef Recipe…

Before any ado…Please remember you have to marinate the beef 2hr-up to overnight

  • 8 ounces filet mignon…cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 1/2 Tb plus 1 1/2 tsp minced garlic…divided
  • 1 1/2 tsp fish sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 2 Tb vegetable oil
  • 2 Tb diced yellow onions
  • 1 Tb oyster sauce
  • 1/2 bunch watercress or your choice of greens…washed and dried
  • 1/8 cup thinly sliced red onion
  • 3 green onions…chopped

Garnish it with….

  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp ginger powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/8 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup grape seed oil
  • Pinch of freshly ground black pepper

1) In a flat shallow container (I used a ziploc bag) toss the beef with 1 1/2 teaspoons of the minced garlic…the fish sauce…soy sauce and sugar…Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours…or up to overnight….

2) Prepare your dressing and set aside…

3) Heat a large sauté pan or wok over high heat and add the oil….Add the beef and sear gently on all sides (we like ours rare…but feel free to sear until browned if that’s what you prefer) then remove and drain on paper towels…

4) Add the remaining 1 1/2 tablespoons minced garlic and diced onions and sauté for 30 seconds…until aromatic….

5) Return the beef to the pan and add the oyster sauce…shaking the pan to distribute the flavors…then remove from the heat….

6) Assemble your salad…In a medium bowl…toss your greens with the red onions if using and a tablespoon or so of the dressing (enough to just coat the greens and adjust according to your taste)….Arrange the salad on a plate and top with the cooked beef…Garnish with the chopped green onions…serve immediately with rice and sliced avocadoes….

Mark my word…You’ll drool over the taste…

The Delicate Ginger Grass Plant

You know I have this personal opinion…with which you may or may not agree…God’s most beautiful…breath-taking…rejuvenating…life-inspiring creation is a delicate…green plant…bearing leaves…flowers fruits…

The vegetation….gives a face to the earth…beauty to its existence…And being an absolute nature admirer…I fall further in love with God’s this creation when the benefits of them come to awareness…Ginger Grass is just one such creation…

Ginger grass is a perennial…herbaceous plant with slender stem and leaves with flowering tops…The plant has a fresh…sharp…green scent….The oil extracted from Ginger grass has a sharp…woodsy…herbal smell….The color ranges from light golden yellow to amber…Ginger grass is related to the lemongrass herb…and has been distilled since the 18th century in India…It is often used to scent perfumes and in Ayurvedic traditions….Combinations of other essential oils can be used to recreate similar qualities to ginger grass…

Ginger grass is a close relative of lemongrass and a distant cousin of palmarosa…These family connections give a glimpse of its aroma….Ginger grass has a gentle…spicy aroma with marvelous earth tones…Just when you think you have experienced all the layers of the aroma…a hint of rose surfaces…calming the nerves and raising the spirits….

Ginger grass shoots off the ginger rhizome when you plant it….The grass will grow to be 2 to 4 feet tall at full maturity….In a couple months after planting the ginger…though…you’ll have grass that’s a foot tall….

Ginger plants can grow to about 1 m tall….The upright shoots sprout from the rhizomeat the base of the plant…

Rhizomes…knobbly and fleshy…covered in ring-like scars….This is the important part for food and medicine…Although the rhizomes grow underground…they are swollen stems…not roots….This is why fresh ginger is often referred to as ‘stem ginger’…

Flowers…the flowering spikes sprout directly from the rhizomes and are about 30 cm long….The flowers are purple with a cream-blotched base…

Fruits…red in colour…Each has three chambers containing several small black seeds….Ginger plants that are cultivated in commercial plantations don’t usually bear fruit…

Will tell you a bit about this amazing plant…Ginger…Though I just mentioned it but I’ll prefer repeating…It is a dramatic perennial plant that displays clumps of lance-shaped leaves adorned with green and yellow stripes….Although the non-variegated variety of shell ginger reaches heights as tall as 10 feet at maturity…Variegata grows only to 3 to 4 feet….Shell ginger blooms year-around…but the pink-tipped white flowers are most plentiful during the summer months….The blooms of the Variegata cultivar have a pleasant…spicy aroma….
